Practicing in androgynous Womenswear, with key interests working with technical sportswear materials. Valued into keeping silhouettes simple and structured, integrated with unique trimmings and details. exhibitions-suzannesomer: 2014 Acte de Présence The Hague Made in China / installation – The portraits presented in this installation were found in the local recycle depot in Beijing China. They were originally used as study material for art students to learn how to draw a portrait. The little objects on the other side were found during the four months walking through the streets of Beijing. These found objects can be seen as patterns that are repeated in our bodies and in the machines we construct and use everyday. These found objects were picked up directly from the streets. This sometimes obsessive collecting behaviour was guided by an emotional response to the objects, their materiality (metal and cardboard), their color (earth color, red, blue or black), and there shape (circle, rectangle). By combining and rendering these portraits and objects, It visually recreates a functional meaning, by showing more of the human and inner working aspects of the human being. -artist in residency at the Red gate Gallery Beijing, China.
